MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Universal Health Coverage Campaigners have called on the Liberian Senate to conduct a thorough and critical review of the Public Health Law, currently under consideration before passage.
The law, which has been at the Senate for an extended period, was initially submitted to the Legislature during the administration of former President George Weah.
According to a release, the law is aimed at advancing and strengthening Liberia’s Health Sector, stressing the urgent need for all aspects of the law to be reviewed to ensure its success.
The Universal Health Coverage Campaigners said the law must foster collaboration and coordination across the health sector, to ensure its effective implementation.
Meanwhile, the organization has revealed that the health of Liberia’s population is at stake, and the law must be structured in a way that balances the interests of all stakeholders and protects the integrity of the health sector.
The group believes that with inclusive review of the law, can be an important tool in advancing Liberia’s public health and ensuring equitable health services for all Liberians.
