MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberia’s Public Works Ministry has highlighted substantial advancements in the country’s infrastructure development, pointing out various road projects that are completed and others that are nearing completion.
The Ministry named one of the key achievements as the Sanniquellie to Luogatuo road, which is now at an impressive 85% completion, and is expected to significantly ease travel between the two regions, once finalized.
In addition, the ministry reported that up to 35 Km of roads have been paved from Ganta towards Saclepea, alongside 27 km paved from Saclepea to Tappita.
In a release, the ministry said it has secured financing for the pavement of the Tappita to Zwedru corridor, with construction set to commence following the completion of a required biodiversity study further into Sinoe County.
Additionally, the ministry said funds have been allocated to link Zwedru to Kilipo, further advancing connectivity to Fish Town and linking Harper to Monrovia.
As part of ongoing initiatives, the ministry is implementing sectional interventions on the Freeport to Johnson Street corridor, which is scheduled for enhancement before the arrival of Japanese engineers in the next Dry Season.
Meanwhile, the Public Works Ministry says there have also been notable improvements on the Roberts International Airport (RIA) road project.
Other road enhancement efforts include the creation of an access road from Old Road through Five-Forty to the Police Academy, the paving of roads in Old Matadi Estate, and improvements to the Soul Clinic Road.
The thirty-five-meter bridge connecting Point-Four to New Kru Town Borough and the Island Clinic is said to also be nearing completion.
In addition to these projects, the ministry says it is actively laying the wearing course on the Dry Rice Market to Mount Barclay Road and executing an asphalt overlay on the Freeport to St. Paul Bridge Road.
It disclosed that significant work is ongoing to construct the Chicken Soup Factory Road, which will link the Japan Freeway to Johnsonville.
The Public Works Ministry noted that efforts to maintain laterite roads are ongoing, ensuring continuous connection to various county capitals.
The ministry emphasized that it is also working to secure private financing for the construction of the St. Paul Bridge to Bo Waterside Road and additional funding for the Kesselly Boulevard to Twelve-Street corridors.
At the same time, the ministry has underscored other notable projects that are ongoing, naming the clearing of the Right of Way for two upcoming overpasses along Tubman Boulevard, expansion projects, the restoration of critical sections of the Caldwell Road, and the completion of the Dixville Road, which links Barnesville to Caldwell.
According to the Public Works Ministry, the government continues to prioritize infrastructure development as a means to drive economic growth and improve the quality of life for all Liberians.
The ministry noted that through these ongoing projects, the government is demonstrating its commitment to enhancing transportation networks and connectivity across Liberia.
