MONROVIA, LIBERIA-A congressional advocate for the interests of Africa in the United States is urging the Liberian Government to strengthen its relationships with regional and continental organizations.
According to Mr. Melvin Foote, the current freeze on aid, through USAID, must be seen as a wakeup call for African leaders to work together to reduce the impact such a decision may have on the continent.
In an interview on the “Super Morning Show” on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, the President and Founder of the “Constituency of Africa” based in Washington, D.C. lauded President Joseph Boakai for efforts aimed at improving governance in Liberia.
Mr. Foote said:” The ongoing freeze on aid across the world by the United States government is having an unprecedented humanitarian impact on millions.”
However, Foote stated that country like Liberia stands a chance of weaving out the opportunities for strong partnerships with counterparts on the continent.
