MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) says the power supply from Ivory Coast to Liberia has been reduced from 50 megawatts to 7.5 megawatts.
According to the LEC, the move was triggered by challenges in power production and critical maintenance activities currently ongoing.
In a release issued recently, LEC disclosed that the adjustment is necessary to ensure long-term stability and efficiency in electricity supply.
It added that the ongoing power reduction will affect electricity distribution in Monrovia and its immediate surroundings.
Meanwhile, the Liberia Electricity Corporation says it has however activated its thermal power plant to help mitigate the situation.
