MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Director General of the National Public Health Institute of Liberia, Dr. Chris Nyan, has reaffirmed the entity’s commitment to protecting the country against infectious diseases.
Dr. Nyan said:” NPHIL can carry out robust surveillance, contact tracing, testing, and gene sequencing despite resource constraints.”
The NPHIL Boss told ELBC on Thursday, February 6, 2025, that currently, Liberia does not have any confirmed case of Mpox, after concluding tests on five poisoners from Sinoe County.
Through robust response to the Mpox outbreak, Dr. Chris Nyan said there were no deaths reported, making Liberia a case study for the rest of Africa.
Meanwhile, the National Health Public Health Institute Director General assured of continuous nationwide monitoring of other infectious diseases including Lassa fever to respond in time.
