MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Ministry of Public Works has formed a collaboration with the Liberia Water & Sewer Cooperation to identify and demolish structures situated on the sewage and water lines in Monrovia City and its environs.

The move is in response to public outcries over the frequent drainage backflows which often affect Monrovia City by polluting major streets.

Public Works Minister, Roland Giddings assured the public that these exercises would be carried out effectively.

Minister Giddings warned that the team would demolish any property on the sewage and water lines without compromise.

Meanwhile, Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation Managing Director, Mohammed Ali, has recounted the Ministry’s support to LWSC’s drainage cleaning initiatives through a World Bank project and the Liberia Urban Resilience Project.

Mr. Ali disclosed that the only means by which these backflows can be reversed is when the technicians can access these utility lines for regular maintenance, ensuring their best outputs.

The collaboration between the Ministry of Public Works and Liberia Water and Sewer Cooperation is aimed at restoring sanity to Monrovia.
