MONROVIA, LIBERIA-A- A high-level Inter-Ministerial Delegation headed by Liberia’s Director-General of the Cabinet, Nathaniel Kwabo, is currently on a one-week study tour in Sierra Leone.

The study tour seeks to gain insights and practical knowledge on the application of the Performance Management System (PMS) by the Government of Sierra Leone.

A release says the visit will also provide opportunities for knowledge exchange, partnership building, and the identification of best practices that Liberia can adapt to enhance its system.

The Team leader of the Liberian Delegation, DG Kwabo, during an official welcoming program on Monday, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the full implementation of the PMCS to meet citizens’ needs and aspirations.

The release further disclosed that the team, since arriving in that country, has been engaging in a series of meetings with senior government officials, directors, and technical experts to obtain firsthand insights into Sierra Leone’s approach to performance management.

The release named representatives from the Ministry of Finance, Civil Service Agency, and Governance Commission, among others, as members of the Liberian delegation.

Presentations and discussions during the first day focused on the structure and implementation of Sierra Leone’s PMCS, call for stronger political will in driving compliance and institutional accountability, effective monitoring and evaluation among others.

According to the release, the ongoing sessions underscored the importance of citizen engagement in making the PMCS a success and ensuring that government institutions remain responsive to national development goals.

Over the next few days, the team is expected to hold several meetings and presentations covering performance management tools, tracking systems, compliance enforcement, and institutional accountability.

The delegation will also visit various government institutions to observe the system in practice and engage with public officials on implementation challenges and solutions.

The study tour follows the launch of Liberia’s Performance Management and Compliance System (PMCS) by President Joseph Boakai last year as part of efforts to strengthen accountability, transparency, and service delivery across government institutions.
