MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai is urging Liberians to reconcile and unite for the growth of the country on this National Decoration Day.

President Boakai said,” It was time for citizens to put aside their individual and social differences and forge a united front for the sake of Liberia’s progress.”

The Liberian Leader also called on Liberians to embrace development and frown against acts that tend to impede national harmony and peaceful co-existence.

President Boakai commented when he visited the Duport Road Massacre Site in Paynesville on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, to pay homage to citizens who tragically lost their lives during the Liberian Civil War.

Leading an array of government officials, President Boakai also laid wreaths on the graves of fallen Presidents William V.S. Tubman and Daniel B. Warner, recognizing their invaluable contributions to Liberia’s peace and development.

The National Legislature, through an act, declared October 24, 1916, as Decoration Day to be observed on the Second Wednesday in March of each year as a public holiday.
