MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Senate has cited authorities of the Ministries of Health and Finance to provide reasons why health centers in the fifteen Counties have not received their allotments for the 2024 fiscal year.
The Senate’s citation comes in the wake of concern raised by Gbarpolu County Senator, Amara Konneh, on Thursday regarding health centers in the various counties lacking adequate drug supply.
Senator Konneh said some health centers received below 30 percent of their allotments in the 2024 budget, while others received up to 80 percent.
The Gbarpolu County Senator described the situation as alarming and called on Plenary to investigate the matter.
Meanwhile, the authorities are expected to appear before the Senate next Tuesday.
At the same time, the Senate has also invited County Health Officers to a consultative meeting along with the Director General of the Civil Service Agency next Tuesday to address the status of volunteer healthcare providers.
