Refuge Place Int’l Dedicates Modern Health Center in Veleyan Town, Bong County

BONG COUNTY, LIBERIA-Residents of Veleyan Town in Salala District in Bong County have lauded Refuge Place International for the construction of a modern clinic in their community.

According to them, the opening of a health facility in the area has brought great relief to them in accessing better health care delivery.

The residents noted that before the opening of the clinic, many children and even pregnant women lost their lives while accessing healthcare in Totota.

They disclosed that RPI stands as the only health center in the part of the county.

They spoke during the official opening of the clinic over the weekend.

Meanwhile, Bong County Representative Moimah Briggs-Mensah has called on citizens of Veleyan Town to take ownership of the clinic, stressing that it is about time citizens prioritize healthcare over traditional practices.

The Bong County Representative further committed herself to working with RPI in maintaining better healthcare delivery for the citizens of the town.

She also called on the county authority to prioritize the needs of citizens to foster development.

At the same time, the District Commissioner of Kono-wolo Administrative District in Bong County, Stephen Binda, has decried challenges confronting the district, naming road connectivity, education, and health, among others, as some major issues affecting the people of his district.

Commissioner Binda further lauded the RPI for the opening of the clinic and called on relevant stakeholders to follow laudable life-saving examples.

Meanwhile, Refuge Place International has concluded a one-day medical outreach in the town.

Their services include mother and child care, and eye screening, among others.

According to the Chief Executive Officer of RPI Musoka Fallah, the initiative is part of RPI Corporate Social Responsibilities to the people of Veleyan Town.

Dr. Fallah recommitted to working with the people of the town in providing better healthcare and other social basic needs.

His message was contained in a statement read by the Chief of Staff of Refuge Place International, Madam Franzetta Nyanford.
