MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberian Government says it is actively engaging with the U.S. Government regarding the recent U.S. visa restriction report.
Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow-Nyanti said:” The Liberian Government has issued a demarche to the US Government to clarify Liberia’s position.”
Addressing the Liberian Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs on Monday, March 17, 2025, Minister Beysolow-Nyanti emphasized the need to validate the report.
The Dean of the Cabinet also disclosed that the ministry has taken steps to strengthen the passport system, including requesting support from the US Government for diplomatic passport and visa issuance.
She added that the ministry has conducted a full security audit of passport issuance procedures and restructured processes for visa issuance.
Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow-Nyanti also revealed that the Foreign Ministry has started the process for Liberia’s compliance with ICAO PKD, which will allow for automatic validation of passports at points of entry.
At the same time, Minister Beysolow-Nyanti has underscored the ministry’s dedication to strengthening Liberia’s foreign relations.
She emphasized the need for a robust foreign service, particularly in the United States.
The Liberian Foreign Minister also highlighted challenges due to budget constraints and the need for resources to rotate personnel and maintain embassies.
Addressing issues affecting Liberian students in Morocco, Minister Beysolow-Nyanti noted that the ministry is collaborating with the Education Ministry to address the situation.
