MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberian journalists have been urged to redirect their reportage around agriculture, the lifeline of any economy.
Christopher Sankolo, Director General of the Agriculture Commodity Regulatory Authority (LACRA), said:” For too long, Liberian journalists have paid more attention to reporting political stories and ignoring agriculture.”
According to him, ending poverty in Liberia is through robust investment in agriculture, adding that the media plays a critical role in realizing such a goal.
The LACRA Director General noted that it is about time journalists in Liberia build citizens’ interest in agriculture by reporting agricultural-related news.
Speaking on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at the start of a one-day Agriculture Journalism Seminar in Paynesville City, the LACRA Boss stressed the need for journalists to redirect their narratives from political stories to agriculture, which is the number one pillar of the government’s ARREST Agenda.
The Seminar, held under the theme:” Strengthening Agriculture Journalism in Liberia to Improve Farmers’ Access to Information”, was organized by the Liberia Agriculture and Environmental Journalists Network.
