MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Today, March 30, is Ramadan Day, and Muslims all around the country are gathering at their various mosques for the Ramadan prayer, also known as Eid al-Fitr.

It followed the declaration of the end of the month-long fast and prayer by Muslims across the country by the National Muslim Council of Liberia on Saturday, March 29, 2025.

The Chairman of the Council, Alhaji Abraham Fumbah-Sheriff, said:” The announcement ending the month of Ramadan follows the sighting of the crescent moon by Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and other Islamic countries.”

He congratulated Muslims throughout Liberia for upholding one of the five pillars of Islam, which is fasting and praying during the month of Ramadan.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Council has expressed gratitude to President Joseph Boakai for the high level of support given to Muslims in Liberia, especially during the Holy Month.

Mr. Sheriff cited the provision of food to Muslims, the celebration of IFTTAR, and the appointment of six Muslim Scholars to serve as Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to various Arab countries, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Kuwait, among others.

He said: “Liberian Muslims will remain grateful to President Boakai and the Liberian Government for the gesture, and I pledged the support of the Muslim Community in Liberia for peaceful coexistence, and the attainment of peace and unity to Liberia.”

The Chairman of the Council, Alhaji Abraham Fumbah-Sheriff, also prayed that God will continue to endow President Joseph Boakai with wisdom and strength to lead the nation to nobler heights.
