MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Government of Liberia is holding talks with ECOWAS, seeking technical and logistical support for the establishment of a War and Economic Crimes Court, as well as a National Anti-Corruption Court in Liberia.
The disclosure was made by Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister for International Cooperation, Dr. Ibrahim Nyei, at the office of the War and Economic Crimes Court in Monrovia.
Disclosing over the weekend, Dr. Nyei said:” Ensuring justice for the nation is a must-do responsibility, and as such, the government must seek international support for the establishment of the courts.”
He said the government would also be rallying the cooperation of friendly governments to ensure that individuals and organizations in their jurisdiction were brought to Liberia to account for their actions during the Liberian Civil War.
Minister Nyei challenged international organizations to continue collaborating and supporting the process leading to the establishment of the two courts in the country.
Also speaking, the Deputy Minister of State for Administration, Cornelia Kruah, said:” President Joseph Boakai remains committed to the establishment of the War and Economic Crimes Court.”
