MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Debt Court at the Temple of Justice has issued a writ of attachment to Speaker Richard Koon and an arrest order, based on a complaint of action of debt by attachment filed by his wife, Cecelia Kpor Koon.
The documents in possession of this station, issued by Judge James Jones of the Debt Court, instructed the Sheriff to take possession and custody of ALL identifiable properties and assets of Speaker Koon.
The writ furthered that monies, vehicles, equipment, and any other asset situated and lying in the country to a total value of thirty-eight thousand five hundred US dollars, are the amount being sued for by his wife.
In her four-count complaint, Madam Cecelia Koon avers that she is the owner of duplexes labeled R09 and R10, situated in Lower Virginia Township, Monstserrado County, given to her by Koon consistent with a notice of reward and titled deed issued and signed by him.
Those documents, according to her, were registered in accordance with the law. However, upon being recognized as the new legal and legitimate owner of the subject property based upon her title instruments, it was mutually agreed between both of them that she should take actual possession of those properties beginning January 1, 2017.
At the agreed date, tenants occupying said properties under the authority of Speaker Koon would have vacated the premises; hence, based upon that, she accepted and agreed for Richard Koon to place her in physical and actual possession of said property.
Madam Koon said:” Early December 2016, I was engaged by Richard Koon, while in the United States, that he had a foreigner who had expressed interest in renting my duplexes., The foreigner proposed an amount of 175 US dollars per month for each, and I agreed and accepted. But I have not received a dime from said properties.”
Meanwhile, Judge Jones has ordered him to file his returns on or before April 10.
