MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Vice President Jeremiah Koung has condemned a recent decisive statement made by “Prophet Key” against the Mandingo Community in Nimba County.
Early on Thursday Morning, April 17, 2025, a video circulated the social media, particularly Facebook, in which he heard using some denigrating remarks against the Mandingos in the county.
In his official Facebook post, VP Koung said:” Such a statement does not reflect his values as the country’s Vice President, or the spirit of their campaign to ensure that Representative Samuel Kogar emerges victorious in the upcoming Nimba County Senatorial By-Election.
According to the VP, his advocacy for a balanced distribution of power in Nimba County is rooted in traditional values and mutual respect among Nimbaians.
He maintained that preserving the atmosphere of peace and unity is important for the continued progress and prosperity of the county.
The VP also disclosed that the government is making genuine efforts to address the longstanding land disputes among families in Ganta.
Meanwhile, Vice President Jeremiah Koung has extended gratitude to the Nimba Mandingo Association for their public endorsement of Representative Kogar’s Senatorial bid.
At the same time, the Movement for Democracy and Reconstruction (MDR) Candidate in the pending Nimba County Senatorial By-Election, Representative Samuel Kogar has outlined his vision for the county, if elected.
Representative Kogar pointed out reconciliation, engagement of the diaspora, and improving the country’s Agriculture Sector.
He also highlighted plans to ensure the establishment of a bank in Nimba County to support local development.
In an ELBC interview on Thursday, April 17, 2025, he also emphasized the importance of unity and respect in politics, encouraging citizens of Nimba County to work together.
The Unity Party (UP)-backed Senatorial Candidate promised to foster relationships and work towards the development of the county to support the President’s vision.
