MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The National Elections Commission (NEC) has released the first batch of provisional results from the Nimba County Senatorial By-election.
According to the NEC, ninety-four of the seven hundred thirty-six polling places, amounting to 12.77 percent, show that Madam Edith Gongloe Weh obtained seven thousand two hundred seventy-five, constituting 46.55%, while Samuel Kogar obtained six thousand seven hundred twenty-five, constituting 43.03 %.
The valid votes amount to fifteen thousand six hundred twenty-nine, constituting one hundred percent, while the invalid votes are three hundred fifty-three.
The total votes, according to NEC, are fifteen thousand nine hundred eighty-two.
On Tuesday, April 22, 2025, eligible voters went to the polls to elect a senator to fill the seat created by the death of long-term Nimba County Senator Prince Johnson.
Seven candidates were qualified by the National Elections Commission to contest in the Nimba County Senatorial By-election.
