Nat’l Elections Commission Declares Rep. Kogar Winner of Nimba County Senatorial By-election

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The National Elections Commission (NEC) has officially declared Representative Samuel Kogar the Nimba County Senatorial By-election winner.

Citizens of Nimba County went to the polls on April 22, 2025, to elect a senator who would subsequently replace the late Prince Johnson, who died last year.

Moments before the official declaration by NEC late Thursday evening, April 24, 2025, Independent candidate and lead contender, Madam Edith Gongloe-Weh, conceded defeat.

In a brief conference held on Thursday, Madam Weh congratulated the Movement for Democratic Reconstruction candidate, Nimba County District-Five Representative Samuel Kogar.

Rep. Samuel Kogar, following his certification by the National Elections Commission, will begin completing the remaining eight years of the late Senator Prince Johnson.
