MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Government of Liberia has reacted to recent threats made by former Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor and other opposition figures.

Information Minister Jerolinmek Piah, speaking at a MICAT Regular Press Briefing on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, said:” The country was on par when the civil war emerged, thereby setting the country backward for ten years.”

He said:” Throughout the civil war in Liberia, Madam Taylor was the wife of the former warlord, Charles Taylor, believing that she would have ill-advised the former President, her husband.”

According to Minister Piah, the former Vice President can easily survive amid a civil war.

At the same time, the Liberian Government says it remains grounded, despite distractions from the opposition community of the country.
