MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The United States Ambassador to Liberia, Mark Toner, has reaffirmed the U.S. Government’s commitment to work with Liberia in promoting peace, good governance, democracy, and the rule of law.

In a release issued on Monday, April 28, 2025, Ambassador Toner expressed sincere gratitude to Liberia’s Justice Ministry and the Joint Security for professionally conducting the just-ended Nimba County Senatorial By-election.

According to the release, Ambassador Toner was speaking on Monday when he paid a courtesy call on Justice Minister Cllr. Oswald Tweh in Monrovia.

Liberia’s Attorney General then assured the United States of the Liberian Government’s strong determination to ensure that Liberia is safe and conducive for its citizens and foreign partners.

In another development, the United States Africa Command Chief of Logistics (AFRICOM), Brig. Gen. George Dietrich is in Liberia ahead of the third US AFRICOM West Africa Logistics Conference set to take place in Liberia in August this year.

The conference brings together military personnel in the subregion to discuss common logistical issues while affording the host nation a valuable chance to demonstrate the highlights of its military structure and force.

According to a release issued recently, upon his arrival on Monday, April 28, 2025, at the Barclay Training Center (BTC) in Monrovia, Brig. Gen. Dietrich urged the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) to use the conference to showcase the significant roles of Liberia in the sub-region.

Brig. Gen. Dietrich believes that the US AFRICOM West Africa Logistics Conference will create more opportunities for the AFL since representatives of the US Department of Défense will attend.

The United States Africa Command Chief of Logistics, however, disclosed ongoing plans by the US AFRICOM to donate military equipment to the AFL, train personnel, and provide spare parts to ensure the smooth operations of the Force.
