BOMI COUNTY, MONROVIA, LIBERIA- Liberia’s Transport Ministry and the National Road Fund, in partnership with the Public Works Ministry, have launched Liberia’s first-ever weight bridge.
The weight bridge, according to the transport ministry, is intended to monitor, restrict, and hold those using heavy vehicles accountable for misuse of the road.
The launch took place on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at the Clay Checkpoint in Bomi County, bringing together officials of the Ministry of Transport, National Road Fund, Public Works, and local stakeholders, among others, in the county.
The placement of the weight bridge will now enable the government of Liberia to ensure that those caught abusing the road are made to make a financial contribution to its maintenance.
