MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Finance Minister Augustine Ngafuan has commended the Ministry of Public Works for the level of work done so far in making sure that streets are paved throughout the country.
Minister Ngafuan said,” The Public Works Ministry has satisfied but cautioned them to do more in connecting most parts of the country.”
The finance minister made the commendation during a meeting between the management teams of the Public Works and Finance Ministries aimed at deep diving into challenges in obtaining funds for implementation.
Minister Augustine Ngafuan assured the ministry that all will be done to obtain funding for road projects and disclosed that similar deep diving will take place at the ministries of health, agriculture, and education in the coming days.
The ministry is exerting more efforts to ensure that roads across the country are pliable.
At the Ministry of Information Press Briefing on Tuesday, May 7, 2025, Information Minister Jerolinmek Piah provided a progress report regarding ongoing road projects around the country.
Minister Piah, at the same time, said:” Resettlement payment is being made to those with properties in the way of the overhead bridge project.”
According to him, mobilization of materials to begin the construction is currently in progress.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Information is expected to embark on a bus tour across the city of Monrovia on Wednesday. The tour is intended to clarify recent allegations by some members of the opposition that Monrovia is dark under President Joseph Boakai’s leadership.
According to Information Minister Jerolinmek Piah, the tour will consist of independent media to ascertain the progress that the Liberian Government is making in electricity, among others.
During the tour, journalists will capture ongoing works by the government to provide a clear picture of the entire city.
He said:” The Public Works Ministry has been installing solar lights across Monrovia, and the city, under the leadership of President Boakai, is now observing a brighter city.”
Minister Piah said Deputy Information Minister for Press and Public Affairs, Daniel Sando, will lead a team of reporters to tour ongoing road projects across Monrovia.
