MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Female inmates at the Monrovia Central Prison have received a donation of food and non-food items from Female law students, through their Women on Women (WOW) organization at the Louis Arthur Grimes School of Law.
The items include essential hygiene products, sanitary supplies, and food items.
The President of the Law Students Association at the Louis Arthur Grimes School of Law (LAGSL), Izetta Howe, said:” The donation is a part of the organization’s ongoing outreach and social impact initiative to uplift vulnerable groups and promote human dignity.”
She said that as future lawyers and defenders of justice, they believe in upholding the rights of all individuals, including those in detention, noting that the items will be used for their intended purpose.
Receiving the items, the Deputy Superintendent of Operations at the Monrovia Central Prison, Janet Mulbah, applauded the Law Students Association, through WOW, for the gesture and called on other humanitarian organizations to follow the footsteps of the female law students.
In another development, students from the Amos C. Sawyer College at the University of Liberia have identified with female inmates at the Gbarnga Central Prison.
The students presented sanitary pads to the female inmates as part of preventing an unhealthy environment for them.
Speaking on behalf of the student group, Tarnue Sumon, commended the management of Gbarnga Central Prison for the Level of work being done so far.
Meanwhile, Gbarnga Central Prison Superintendent Golomen Sinkor praised the College for identifying with the inmates and called for more support.
