MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Director General of the National Public Health Institute of Liberia, Dr. Dougbeh Nyan, is calling for a four million United States dollar increase in the budget of the entity.
Such increase, Dr. Nyahn said:” It will empower NPHIL fully to implement its mandate, void of depending solely on donor support.”
According to Dr. Nyan, investing in the Health Sector will boost the surveillance system of the country and enhance the productivity of NPHIL and the Health ministry.
The NPHIL Boss boasted of tremendous progress at the entity since his ascension as Director General.
He named the ability of the entity to conduct genomic sequencing in the country, training of additional field epidemiologists, heightening of public health surveillance and response system, and the renovation of the National Reference Lab, among others, as some of the progress made.
Dr. Nyan made the statement when he appeared on the ELBC ‘Supper Morning Show’ on Monday, May 19, 2025.
