LOFA COUNTY, LIBERIA-Lofa County Health Team has launched robust surveillance and community engagement efforts across Kolahun, Vahun, and Foya Districts in response to the growing threat of Mpox in neighboring Sierra Leone.
According to a Health Ministry release issued recently, the County Health Officer, Dr. Moses Weldegar, and team have intensified preventive measures considering the unofficial point of entry linking Sierra Leone to Lofa County.
The release noted that as part of these efforts, infection prevention and control materials, including hand-washing buckets, have been distributed to health facilities and border entry points to strengthen hygiene practices and minimize the risk of transmission.
The ministry said the country is working with the Joint Security forces to enforce preventive measures at key border locations.
Meanwhile, Lofa County has officially launched the Mpox vaccine campaign.
