MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Government of Liberia, under its ongoing “Deep Dives” initiative, has so far identified two critical challenges hindering efficient service delivery, performance, and effectiveness in the Public Sector.

The “Deep Dives” program, spearheaded by the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, seeks to remove bottlenecks that stall the smooth operations of the government.

Finance and Development Planning Minister Augustine Ngafuan said,” The government ministries and agencies are complaining about the procurement process and untimely access to budgetary allotments.”

Minister Ngafuan stated that while the government appreciates the digitalization of the procurement process, stakeholders must find a way to make the e-procurement system flexible for critical development sectors.

Minister Augustine Ngafuan assured that the “Deep Dives” program will make the government effective and efficient to deliver for the Liberian people.

At the same time, he has addressed concerns about the Liberian economy and access to finance through microloans.

In an interview on ELBC Super Morning Show on Thursday, May 22, 2025, Finance Minister Ngafuan said,” The government is aware of the need to increase loan schemes, but the Pan African Payment System and a loan that seeks to support six hundred SMEs through the Central Bank of Liberia.”

Finance and Development Planning Minister Augustine Ngafuan said while some of the reforms to further improve the Liberian economy may take a long time, the government is taking giant steps to deliver what was elected.
