MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Government of Liberia has reportedly paid one-point-four million US dollars for the shipment of the 20 million US dollars heavy-duty equipment donated to the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) by the African Union (AU).
The Chief of Staff of the AFL, Major General Davidson Forleh, disclosed that the Cameroon Company has confirmed the receipt of the money for the shipment.
Major General Forleh made the disclosure at a program marking the activation of the First Armored Reconnaissance Battalion and the AFL Signal Company at the Barclay Training Center in Monrovia, recently.
Major General Forleh said,” I will be travelling to attend the AU Chief of Staff Conference in Nairobi, Kenya, later this week, and upon my return, I will also travel to Cameroon to facilitate the shipment of the equipment.”
Meanwhile, members of the UN have praised the AFL for the roles it played in peacekeeping in Mali and other areas of deployment in recent years.
Deputy Defense Minister for Administration, Augustine Larmin, made the commendations when Liberia pledged its commitment of contributing to the peacekeeping of the UN Mission around the globe.
