MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberia’s Ambassador to France, Dr. Teeko Yorlay, has welcomed the country’s accession to the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe and affirmed the nation’s commitment to promoting peace, democracy, and human rights on the global stage.
Ambassador Yorlay also emphasised Liberia’s shared values with the North-South Centre, including a commitment to youth empowerment, gender equality, social integration, and technology.
He reaffirmed Liberia’s dedication to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and urged enhanced global cooperation to eradicate poverty and address the growing threat of climate change, particularly its impact on vulnerable nations.
Speaking at the 34th North-South Centre Meeting in Strasbourg, France, the Liberian envoy expressed the country’s readiness to engage in meaningful dialogue and collaboration between the Global North and South.
He also highlighted Liberia’s ongoing transformation to a stable and peaceful democracy.
Ambassador Teeko Yorlay noted that Liberia has made peace and the rule of law cornerstones of its national development strategy, thereby attracting investment and fostering reconciliation.
