Gov. of Liberia, FAO, Launch Sustainable Rice Value Chain Enhancement for Food Security project

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Government of Liberia, in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), has launched the Sustainable Rice Value Chain Enhancement for Food Security project in Liberia.

The project, founded by the FAO Technical Corporation Committee, aims to enhance national food security through improved rice production, create a stronger Agricultural Sector, among others.

Speaking at the MICAT Regular Press Briefing on Thursday, May 29, 2025, in Monrovia, Deputy Information Minister for Press and Public Affairs, Daniel Sando, said,” The initiative is expected to run up to December 2026.

Minister Sando noted that the FAO, in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture on the project, will address pressing issues affecting Liberia’s Agriculture Sector.

The Deputy Information Minister maintained that the project aligns with the newly adopted post-private strategy 2024-2029 and the National Agriculture Development Plan 2024-2030.
