Liberia Advances Campaign for Non-Permanent Seat on UN Security Council

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberia is advancing its campaign for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council, ahead of the official election on June 3, 2025.

Currently, Liberia is seeking support from Burundi.

Representing President Joseph Boakai at a meeting with the President of Burundi, Grand Bassa County Senator Gbehzohngar Finley emphasized the shared history of civil conflicts between the two countries.

Senator Finley suggested that Liberia’s experience with civil division and progress in unity and reconciliation would be beneficial for the Council.

Senator Gbehzohngar Finley also expressed hope for future mutual support between the two countries for the Security Council positions.
