MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Crescent Sighting Committee and the Fatwa Council of the National Muslim Council of Liberia have praised the Government of Liberia for its continued support to the Muslim Community.

The two bodies made specific reference to the Hajj assistance provided by the government, as well as the smooth operation of this year’s pilgrimage activities.

The Committee and Fatwa Council have also confirmed the Islamic calendar dates for the upcoming Eid al-Adha festivities.

Following their meeting, the Committee concluded that Thursday, May 29, marks Dhul-Hajjah 2, 1446, in the Islamic calendar.

For the Muslim Community across Liberia, this means that Thursday, June 5, will be observed as Arafah Day, leading to the much-anticipated Eid al-Adha, celebrated on Friday, June 6.

The Committee, in a spirit of unity and devotion, encouraged all Muslims to observe optional fasting on the Day of Arafah, emphasizing the significance of the day in Islamic tradition.
