LOWER MARGIBI COUNTY, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai has returned home after forming part of the 50th Anniversary celebrations of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in Lagos, Nigeria.
President Boakai, while in Nigeria along with other Heads of States and Government in the sub-region, affixed their signature to the ECOWAS Golden Jubilee Declaration at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs.
In a brief interview at the Roberts International Airport (RIA) upon his arrival in the country on Thursday, May 29, 2025, the Liberian Leader described the celebrations as a milestone achievement in the history of the region.
President Boakai, while craving for enhanced regional trade and collaboration, also called for more support towards the empowerment of the youthful population.
The President also highlighted Liberia’s steadfast commitment to the regional bloc, emphasizing that regional solidarity is the backbone of West Africa’s stability and development.
The Liberian Leader lauded ECOWAS for the enormous contributions made over the past five decades in contributing to conflict resolution, democratic transitions, and the free movement of people and goods.
