MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Supreme Court of Liberia has sustained the lower court’s decision to evict the former ruling party, the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC), from the disputed property it is currently using as its headquarters.
It followed the dismissal and denial of a bill of Information filed by the CDC, questioning the court’s 2016 judgment.
As part of the ruling, three CDC lawyers, Ndubuisi Nwabudike, Thompson Jargba, and James Kumeh, were fined USD 500.00 each to be paid within seventy-two hours.
In March 2024, the court ordered the CDC’s eviction from the Interstate Estate, placing the property under the administration of the Martha Stubberfield Barnard family.
The CDC had occupied the property for years under a lease agreement, but was previously found liable for unpaid rent.
