Monrovia, Liberia, Tuesday, June 2, 2025 – The Government of the People’s Republic of China has renewed its commitment to cementing mutually rewarding friendship with the government and people of Liberia.
This was contained in a congratulatory message released by the Chinese Embassy in Monrovia shortly after Liberia was overwhelmingly elected as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council on Tuesday.
The Chinese government described the feat as a significant milestone, especially as the country has waited six decades to reclaim such as position among the comity of nations.
The statement said China stands ready to enhance cooperation with Liberia at the level of the Council and on multilateral affairs.
According to the Embassy, such cooperation will see China and Liberia working together to uphold international peace and security, while at the same time promoting common prosperity.
