Pres. Boakai Tags Liberia’s Elections as Non-Permanent Member on UN Security Council…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai has described Liberia’s elections as a non-permanent member on the UN Security Council as a testament to the country’s journey towards peace and reconciliation.

President Boakai said,” Liberia’s ascendency to the helm of leadership has positioned itself to contribute meaningfully to global peace and conflict resolution.”

According to the President, Liberia’s victory is a validation of the country’s commitment to international peace and security.

The Liberian Leader remarked on the official program marking the election of Liberia as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the 2026-2027 Term.

President Joseph Boakai, however, lauded the efforts of the African Union (AU), ECOWAS, and the UN for their tireless efforts in making Liberia’s vision a reality.

Meanwhile, the Liberian Chief Executive has pledged Liberia’s commitment to being the voice of all African nations at the UN Security Council.

He said, “The country will promote conflict prevention, support peacekeeping reform, and champion the protection of all civilians.”

President Boakai promised Liberia’s dedication to engage in constructive discussions and build a bridge of diplomatic cooperation in the interest of the continent, and rallied the support of all citizens far and near in achieving this great chapter in the history of the country.

According to him, the new chapter presents opportunities for growth, collaboration, and progress.

At the same time, Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow-Nyanti has attributed Liberia’s election to the UN Security Council to the collective effort of all Liberians and international partners.

According to Minister Beysolow-Nyanti, Liberia’s election signifies the nation’s growth from conflict to sustained peace and stability.

She said, “The nation will leverage the seat to champion Africa’s voice and interest on the international stage.”

She then lauded citizens of Liberia and international partners for their unwavering support of the entire process.

Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow-Nyanti made the statement at an open watch party for the voting proceedings on the UN Security Council Non-Permanent Seat.

Former President George Weah has also extended gratitude to the Government of Liberia, under the leadership of President Joseph Boakai, for the tireless efforts that led to the election of Liberia.

Former President Weah said,” This achievement not only underscores Liberia’s commitment to global peace and security, but also represents a renewed chapter in the country’s engagement on the world stage.”

In a social media post, the former Liberian leader noted that the journey to the UN Security Council has been marked by unwavering support from various regional and international organizations, including ECOWAS and the African Union (AU).

He also urged all Liberians to embrace this landmark achievement, emphasizing that together they can work towards the collective interest of their nation.

Former President George Weah then reiterated his commitment to the ideals of the UN and pledged to be a voice for Liberia on global issues.
