MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Executive has confirmed that President George Weah will begin official work at the Executive Mansion on February 14 this year, after the grand launch of Liberia’s Bicentennial.
It followed sixteen years after former President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf worked at the Executive Mansion, which h was gutted by fire in July, 2006.
Information Minister Ledgerhood Rennie told a major press briefing on Monday, February 7, 2022, that renovation work has been completed on four floors, including the floor of the President.
Minister Rennie said:” Renovation works will continue on other floors, while the Liberian Leader performs his official duties at the Executive Mansion.”
According to him, the Liberian Leader will lead an array of Government officials and supporters to the Official Seat of the President on February 14, to begin work.
Before the President begins work at the Executive Mansion, the Information Minister disclosed that scores of religious leaders will offer prayers to consecrate the facility.
Information Minister Ledgerhood Rennie then added that President George Weah will not live in the Executive Mansion.
At the same time, the Government of Liberia has welcomed a resolution from the United States Congress, which seeks to foster the bilateral relationship between Liberia and the United States.
The resolution introduced by the US Foreign Affairs Committee, reaffirms America’s commitment to support transparency, accountability and other tenets of good governance, as the Liberia approaches the bicentennial.
Reacting to the resolution on behalf of Government, Minister Rennie said:” The document is not a plus to Liberia, but a show of renew commitment to the Country.”
He, however, said that the Liberian Government, through President Weah, is excited by the resolution from the American people through their representatives.
Information Minister Ledgerhood Rennie said the history of Liberia is tied to the United States, therefore, the resolution introduced ahead of the grand launch of the bicentennial demonstrates the bond of friendship between both countries.
