CAIRO, EGYPT-Five Liberian media practitioners have completed a full-fledged one Month Media studies and training in the Arab Republic of Egypt.
The Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS) was represented by three of its reporters: Edward Tamba, Fabine Kwiah and Zoquay Beysolow Konneh.
Two other beneficiaries, Rebecca Moore and Varbar Gbuley came from the Ministry of information to complete the five-man Liberian delegation to Egypt.
While in Egypt, the Liberians were joined by seventeen other delegates from five African countries, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Mauritius, Kenya and Tanzania.
The Media training commenced on January 2, 2022, through February 2, 2022, with an elaborate closing ceremony attended by those Countries foreign Missions in Cairo.
As part of the 42nd class of the African Anglophone Countries Media Training, the African Journalists were trained, among other courses, in the development of strategies in Public Diplomacy using the Media as bedrock.
Lectured by experienced Media practitioners, the Anglophone African Journalists were enlightened about the essence of Citizens and Mobile Journalism; their importance and influences on the wider public.
The African Journalists were also trained in professional ways of doing live television coverage, as a Correspondent and Reporter unfolding breaking News on the scene.
During the month-long intensive media training organized by the Egyptian Media Production City, the Journalists were trained in different fields of media production.
The Journalists were also trained in cinematography, on the usage of camera for proper video shooting and professional photo taking as videographers or photographers.
Among other important courses taught were Radio Talk Show hosting, presentation and coverage of live or breaking news.
The month-long Media Studies and Training for African Anglophone Countries Media Professionals also covered the negative impact of social media on public opinion, and Media and digital literacy during time of fake news.
Other important courses taught are strategies on how to deal with Media crisis and cyber security, and the maintenance of internet governance.
At the closing ceremony Wednesday, February 2, 2022, the Director of Training, Major General Nasser Mohamed Rida, disclosed that the Media training is a crucial strategy of the Egyptian Government, through the State Ministry of Information, to train other African Journalists in various disciplines.
Major General Rida stressed the importance President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi places on training African Journalists, and to ensure a vibrant African Media landscape that reports on the stories that affect and benefit Africa as a continent.
Also attending the closing ceremony held at the Movenpick Hotel in the 6 of October City, Assistant Minister of Information Nasser Reda maintained that the training was part of efforts to offer long last professional journalistic skills to African Media practitioner.
The one-month media training was coupled with tours to historic sites, cities and places of worship, including the Egyptian Orthodox Church and Koombo Temple.
