MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The recent visiting United States Congressional Delegation to Liberia has met several accountability and transparency organizations in the Country.
The organizations included the National Youth Movement for Transparent Elections (NAYMOTE), Center for Transparency and Accountability in Liberia (CENTAL), Accountability Lab and Carter Center-Liberia.
Head of Delegation Congressman Gregory Meeks affirmed, on behalf of all members of the delegation and the US Congress, the commitment to support the fight against corruption, expand civic space and improve governance.
He noted that “Africa will not be on the back burner” of his Committee’s foreign policy agenda under his watch, stressing the importance of government-CSO partnership in the fight for good governance.
A US Embassy release is quoted as saying the people of the United States give more than one-hundred-ten-million US Dollars each year to help Liberians continue to grow their democracy, practice free and fair trade, invest in their people, and build upon the results to produce a peaceful and more prosperous tomorrow.
