MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberia Land Authority (LLA) has begun discussing possible need to establish a specialized court to solely investigate land cases in the Country.
LLA Chairman Atty. Manobah made the disclosure on Thursday, March 17, 2022, on EL BC Super Morning Show.
Atty. Manobah said:” Discussion is being held among partners, Legislative and Judiciary branches of Government before drafting a bill for submission to the Legislature.”
He stressed that the establishment of such court is in the right direction, given the risk land conflict poses to peace and security.
He said boundary harmonization still remains an area of concern for the LLA to drive peaceful coexistence among communities.
According to him, boundary harmonization is a critical area of Land Right Law that needs clearer understanding by those in rural areas.
Atty. Manobah said though the LLA is challenged, collaboration with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Forestry Development Authority (FDA) are helping to reduce land conflicts in Liberia.
