MCSS, Gov’t to construct Boatswain High School

by Francis Pelenah Jr,

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Monrovia Consolidated School System (MCSS), in collaboration with the Liberian Government, has broken grounds for the construction of a modern school building at the Boatswain Junior High School on Jamaica Road on the Bushrod Island in Monrovia.

The project will also elevate the school to the senior high level.

The intent of the MCSS, through the Government, is to reduce the overcrowdings of classes at the D. Twe High School, and also meet the growing needs of the student population on the Bushrod Island.

The D. Twe Memorial High School in New Kru Town is currently the only public high school on the island, with an enrollment of over two-thousand students, yearly.

Speaking at the program recently, MCSS Superintendent Isaac Zawolo encouraged Boatswain students to do better and improve their averages, if they must compete for international scholarships.

Superintendent Zawolo then assured of Government’s commitment to ensuring that the project is completed.

Also speaking, Montserrado County District 15 Representative Abu Kamara pledged five-hundred bags of cement, and promised to zinc the entire building.
