Butuo, Nimba County, Liberia – The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi has hailed Government for providing safe haven for Ivorian refugees in the last twenty years.
Mr. Grandi said the Liberian Government has demonstrated true friendship and regional solidarity in hosting the refugees.
The UN Refugee Agency Boss was speaking over the weekend in Butuo, Nimba County when the commission repatriated over two hundred fifty Ivorian refugees from Liberia.
Mr. Grandi said Liberia has exhibited high degree of hospitality in the sub-region by hosting and protecting refugees from neighboring countries over the years
The voluntary repatriation is series of activities marking the celebration of the International refugees Day.
This year’s celebration comes amid a cessation clause which will officially end the Ivorian refugee status in Liberia.
