MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberian National Police (LNP) has arrested several persons for arbitrarily hiking the price of the Country’s staple food, rice.
The LNP has already detained eight individuals, including venders and a truck with huge stockpile of rice at the Loguatuo Border in Nimba County.
The LNP said rice hoarding and smuggling are causing serious inconveniences for the Liberian Government and people.
Meanwhile, the LNP has issued a stern warning to individuals and dealers trying to profiteer at the detriment of ordinary citizens.
According to an LNP release issued recently, the police will not hesitate to arrest anyone or business entity caught exploiting the consuming public.
