MONROVIA, LIBERIA (Joseph Koon Reports) – The Government of Liberia has requested Sierra Leonean authorities to extradite detained Chairman of the Council of Patriots(COP), Henry Costa, to face justice in Liberia.
Information Minister, Eugene Nagbe, said the extradition of Mr. Costa will allow him to face due process for the alleged commission of multiple state crimes.
Minister Nagbe said the extradition process is being done through diplomatic means.
The Information Minister, however, clarified that the Weah-led Government has been upholding the rule of law, occasioned by the systematic holding of public demonstrations led by Mr. Costa.
Minister Nagbe also maintained that Government is under obligation to prosecute anyone caught in violation of Liberian laws as in the case with Henry Costa who has chosen to escape justice.
Mr. Costa was arrested Tuesday by Sierra Leonean immigration authorities while trying to board a flight at the Lungi International Airport in Freetown, Sierra Leone.
