MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Weah, with immediate effect, has appointed a Special Presidential Committee to work with ArcelorMittal in resolving outstanding issues about the Company’s Mineral Development Agreement (MDA).
Those appointed on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, are Dee-Maxwell Kemayah, Chairman, Emmanuel Shaw, Member, Cllr. Archibald Bernard, Member and Secretary to the Committee.
In a letter addressed to the Chairman, President Weah mandated the Committee to meet and engage all relevant authorities in Government and ArcelorMittal, as well as all stakeholders to the MDA.
The Liberian Leader believes that such engagement will help the Committee ensure the finalization and implementation of the MDA within a reasonable time frame.
The appointment of the Committee followed President Weah’s meeting with Mr. Lakshmi Mittal, Executive Chairman of ArcelorMittal.
