MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Dozens of young people under the banner: “Disenchanted Unity Party Partisans” have vowed to support the re-election bid of President George Weah.
The group said its decision is based on the developmental initiatives undertaking by the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) led-Government in the last five years, citing the construction of feeder and major roads across the Country.
They also named the payment of WASSCE for all twelve graders, the promotion of peace and stability, among others.
Reading a five-count petition statement by the hierarchy of the organization, Thomas Bondu, said:” For too long more young people have been marginalized in society.”
Mr. Bondu said they are of a strong conviction that President Weah is the best alternative to meet the aspirations of young people, if re-elected in 2023.
Meanwhile, receiving the petition on behalf of President Weah, CDC National Youth League Chair, Emmanuel Johnson, praised the immense contributions of the youthful population in the development of the Country.
Mr. Johnson said gone are the days when young people were marginalized by the older generation.
He noted that this is why the CDC, through the leadership of President Weah, has created the environment where young people’s talents can be harnessed and goals achieved.
The CDC National Youth Chair also underscored the importance of unity among young people, as the Country goes to elections in October this year.
He lauded the efforts of President George Weah for the level of transformation within the party and Country at large.
