MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Thousands of Liberian Muslim women have petitioned President George Weah, ahead of the much anticipated October 10 Presidential and Legislative Elections.
The women have now organized themselves into two political groups called “Forceful Women for Weah 2023” and “4B Movement for Weah 2023.”
During the ceremony at the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Ministerial Complex in Congo Town on Sunday, February 12, 2023, the women recounted the enormous strides the Weah-Administration has achieved over the years.
They reference several policies and frameworks meant to improve Liberian owned businesses.
They further spoke of the exchange rate stabilization, expansion of electricity, construction of markets, farm-to market roads and hospitals across the Country, among others.
The jubilant Muslim women also vowed to go all out and campaign to ensure the re-election of President Weah on October 10, this year.
Meanwhile, President George Weah has expressed gratitude to the thousands of Muslim women who endorsed his reelection bid.
The Feminist-In-Chief lauded the women, stressing that such endorsement has dispelled the notion that the Liberia Muslim Community does not like his government.
According to President Weah, the support came as no surprise based on his close relationship with Muslims, while recounting his days at the Muslim Congress School in Monrovia.
In his acceptance speech, the Liberian Leader further reassured that his government will continue fostering religious inclusion, emphasizing that religions are not prerequisites for acquiring any opportunity under his government.
He also promised to continue with his development agenda which seeks to uplift all, irrespective of the diversities.
President Weah said:” Don’t be distracted by critics who refused to acknowledge the efforts of my government. I remain the single best option for the Presidency in the pending elections.”
