MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Director General of the Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS), Estelle Liberty-Kermoh, has challenged female journalists to rise above complacency and aspire for greatness.

Madam Liberty-Kermoh said:” Complacency over the years has had negative impact on the growth of women in the journalism profession.”

She noted that for women to make a difference in the media, they must compete with their male counterparts through basic skills.

The LBS Director General, serving as Guest Speaker of the 7th Commencement Convocation of the Peter Quaqua School of Journalism, cautioned media executives to create a safer space for women to explore their potentials, doing so, she said will motivate much more females to venture in the profession.

Madam Liberty-Kermoh also encouraged the graduates to be committed and dedicated to the promotion of the field of journalism.

At the same time the LBS Director General has extolled the immense contributions of the school in the promotion of professional journalism in Liberia.

She said the school has helped to educate hundreds of aspiring journalists over the years, noting that the training of aspiring journalists has also helped in transforming the media landscape of the Country.

The LBS Director General, however, encouraged other media institutions to emulate the good example of Peter Quaqua School of Journalism aimed at preserving the journalism profession in Liberia.
