MONROVIA, LIBERIA -The Government of Liberia has outlined policy implementation, job creation and strong partnership as major focus of the governance sector.
Finance Minister, Samuel Tweah, said the government is committed to strengthening its relationship with the World Bank and other partners to ensure trans-formative and impactful projects for job creation.
Minister Tweah was speaking Tuesday, January 21, 2020 when the Government and the World Bank signed a US 3.7Million Agreement to support the Fisheries Sector.
The Finance Minister described the fisheries sector as a major contributor to job creation and the national budget.
Minister Tweah maintained that the project will enable the National Fishery and Aqua-culture Authority to export and add value to the sector.
Meanwhile, the Finance Minister said government remains engaged with the World Bank and other international partners to transform the electricity sector.
He said doing so will help generate more revenue for the country, create jobs and reduce structural and financial losses incurred by the Liberia Electricity Corporation, LEC over the years.
Minister Tweah re-affirmed government’s commitment to settling its indebtedness with the LEC to enable the entity executes its programs effectively.
He also boasted of ongoing construction of major roads across the country. Minister Tweah named the Ganta-Zwedru, Tapita-Zwedru and the Saniwuelle-Logatuoare among Government’s top priority road projects.
