MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Justice Ministry has filed a Writ of Prohibition to the Justice in Chambers of the Supreme Court of Liberia against Judge Blamo Dixon of Criminal Court “C”.
The Petition, amongst other things, alleged that Judge Dixon was in error to have ordered the State to return two-hundred-ten thousand United States Dollars to defendants in the recent Cocaine Case.
But the Justice Ministry clarified that it received one-hundred-thirteen thousand dollars, and deposited the money at the Central Bank of Liberia (CBL) and not two-hundred-ten thousand USD.
The Justice Ministry also maintained that the judge was in error because the amount in question does not belong to any of the acquitted defendants.
The petition is also seeking to overturn Judge Blamo Dixon’s May 18 Verdict, ordering the Liberian Government to return said amount.
Meanwhile, the Writ of Prohibition will be heard through a conference on Wednesday, May 24, 2023.
