MONROVIA, LIBERIA(Varflay Kamara) – The National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL) says it has increased protective health measures against the outbreak of a Coro-na-virus which has killed at least six people in China.
Coro-na-virus is an infectious disease transmitted from animal to people. The symptoms include fever, cough, breathing difficulties and pneumonia, among others.
Addressing a news conference Thursday, January 23, 2020 the Acting Director General of NPHIL, Dr. Mosoka Fallah, said screening measures have been heightened at the Roberts International Airport.
Dr. Fallah advised Liberians traveling to China, especially Wuhan City where the outbreak took place, to avoid closed contacts with people suffering from acute respiratory infections.
The NPHIL Acting Director General said though there has been no specific treatment for the disease, the Health system of the Country is prepared to combat any outbreak in line with the International Health Regulations.
